Iam in the similar situation, but my wife came here only last month on H4. My GC was approved yesterday. Now I have all the documents ready for my wife's GC application to be sent to USCIS. My lawyer also told me to immediately mail the application to USCIS since I did not receive my GC on hand yet.
My concern is will my wife's application get rejected since my I485 has been approved? Pls help!

I prefectly agree with the fact that people are getting a bit overly impatient on the issues here , but I who has been patiently waiting and waiting and working with the state chapters just see a lull and silence on the immigration front ( Skilled and Unskilled ) . No one wants to talk about it or do anything about it on the Hill.Please prove me wrong here , I WANT TO BE WRONG !!!

Arnab, I understand your point. I mean it. My old priority date was Sept. '02 and after being stuck in backlog for years, I finally decided to change my job, my new priority date is in 2006.
Now, IV doesn't have control over the schedule followed by the US congress. Having said that, let me assure you that there is positive movement. If you look at recent posts by other members, you will see that momentum. That is the result of your efforts with DC rally and your contribution.
This last quarter of 2007 is do or die for us. That is why we are asking members to join state chapters and preparing for our next big push. All this may not be what you would be hoping for but guess what, without your efforts we wouldn't have come so far. So have some more patience.

I am from Ohio and tried several times to join State Chapter. I did get PM from a member last week who asked me to get him my personal info, which I did but no rsponse from him..

The reason that the USPS is not showing your documents delivered could be many. One of the biggest reasons that I have experienced is "unable to scan the bar code". This is more probable if you had printed the mailing label and affixed it on the envelope with a tape. Sometimes the tape can overlap the bar code making the bar code difficult to be scanned. I frequently use USPS priority mail and in about 10% of the cases this happens. But I never had a lost priority mail piece.
Additionally the fact that you had a soft LUD on 9/28, I would think that LUD was for the reason that USCIS received the documents. I had applied AP online on the same date as you did, sent docs via priority mail the next day. USPS showed that the documents delivered on 9/25 and had soft LUDs on 9/25 and 9/28.

how to keep ur PMP certification active..? I understand that we have to have 60 credits of PDU to keep PMP acitve....what is the cheapest / easiest way to keep it active...??...also...i cannot get the pdu etc from my work place as i am not PMO role yet....

When is this name check reform getting implemented. Why is is so difficult to implement ?
Because the USCIS did not implement name check procedures properly in the first place - they are not required by law and are not codified in the regulations, the USCIS can implement new procedures simply by issuing inter-office memorandum. One day is enough to do this. I anticipate this may happen within the next two months, more likely early next year. But one can never predict the USCIS, it does not have logical behavior :)

You would have to now think/plot a 3-dimention model, say a cube, because you may like a model of Honda in one color but you may not like the same color in another model. Now there could be other combinations, say which year make or whether it is a sedan/coupe or the cost factor or resale value, mileage, new/old, dealership, goodies, experience of your friends/well-wishers etc. etc. etc. So there could be multiple dimensions analysis to answer a 7 word question - which car do I like to buy?
The reason I say this is, even situations which otherwise seem simple require multiple dimensions of analysis. And there could be many more dimensions that we do not know or we do not understand. But say, you ignore all dimensions to every situation, and judge every situation in a single dimension analysis - whether or not you like something or not? If you don�t like it, that something has to be wrong. If you like it, that something is right. It can be easily identified on the x-axis. Simple, isn�t it. Life would be so much easier; it would be so much fun.
But here is the problem. With single dimension analysis of every situation, we will all be wrong most of the time. Since our childhood, maybe that�s why we were sent to school to get educated so that we could gain the knowledge & wisdom which could help us to apply more than one dimension to every situation and we could gain the ability to evaluate and analyze things around us �intelligently� � in multi-dimension.
Your single dimension analysis of -ve comments situation is, you don't like them and that's why the entire system HAS to be wrong. You see what I am saying.
It�s ok to express in the any forum and if you don�t like a forum, as in this case you don�t like reputation system, you have the choice to totally ignore it and not look at it at all. But you chose to look at the reputation system maybe because you continue to be mindful of your reputation on the anonymous forum, but then you continue to complain about the existense of the red dot system. It�s the choice you make. And then you apply single dimension analysis � if you don�t like a comment, there is something wrong with the guy who posted a negative comment and the reputation system and the IV and everyone around us. And because you are not happy, you think it is ok to curse everyone saying that the entire immigration system cannot be fixed because IV has reputation system. You know, I have to tell you, you are pretty good.
The reason I say all this is, I have fundamental difference with the folks who do not like reputation system but continue to look at it and complain about it, even when they have the choice not to look at the reputation system. The problem doesn�t end there. Every week there is someone complaining about the reputations left for that guy, and I just have an intellectual disagreement with that behavior. And I do not have anything against you or anyone else, I am sure you are a good man with a kind heart.

Good points Sanju we should weigh the +s and the -s of the rep system, however you are missing the core of the complaints. Which is that people giving reds are usually (though not always) doing it as a personal attack (you suck, F*'s etc.), whereas every green that one receives is usually on subject matter (I have not seen a "you stud"!! kind of +ve reps ;) ).
Also, what it wrong for people to complain about the system? If people have the right to give reds, why shouldn't the forum be allowed to complain about it? And if the popular opinion is against it, then the system can be dismantled.
At both ends (the extreme left and the right) it is always "my way or the highway". Neither one recognizes that there are people with different view points, and that everyone should be given an opportunity to air their own views (live a life of their choosing etc.).

they have delayed processing time so more people will file for premium processing and they earn more money. H1b quota is not filling up and all of a sudden processing time went from 2 to 6-7 months in 1 month. Because so many people ( h1 - h4 ) might be travelling in dec - jan season. Come back in feb - march and processing time will be again 2 months.
ICPS printing problems , Delays in approving will happen even if they make premium - join me in this drive if your EAD Card approved and still waiting... we need more people... let the word spread ASAP.

However, if you cannot find someone to go with you, then go alone. Many of the meetings we do in Washington, sometimes we get appointments from 2 or 3 offices at the same time. In that case we split up and only one person goes to meet the lawmakers or staffers. But we cannot lose opportunities or miss opportunities.
So go alone if there is no one else in your district to go with you.

Service industry is not always based on labor cost differentials. Many services are value added services. For example, stock brokers used to charge $200 and above for stock trades; however, electronic brokers came and made the industry efficient and hence can profit more by charging only $10 or even less. But this does not mean that the stock brokers are earning less. In fact they are earning more than before. However, their value additions come from faster settlement times and high volumes. This is easier to analyze. Now look at London or Hong Kong -- what services it provides and why is it booming?
High investments in R&D in general is good for economy but not necessarily true for a company. For example, German manufacturers are best R&D shops; however, their over investment in precision is precisely their problem. On the other hand Apple copied mp3 music players from Creative and made millions. One can find countless examples of skilled marketing (services) not innovative products making money. So don't assume that R&D investments are always good for a company.
Finally, Wipro & the likes -- they have already opened up shops in China, Mexico, Brazil (yes)... and finally if dollar falls further they could actually buy the US companies and make them efficient (Honda and GM example).
